Pathogenic entities (microbes, virus-infected or cancer cells,
environmental biologic products such as mites or pollen) often
induce microenvironmental local immune/vascular disorders
by releasing adverse stromal factors, such as extracellular
viral regulatory factors acting as viral toxins and undesirable
overproduced cytokines which contribute to pathogenesis and
spreading of disease. Such disorders may explain why conventional
vaccines targeting exclusively the pathogen, though safe,
are not, up to now, efficacious.
